Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

National Digital is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to help build and maintain a suite of modern Laravel-based applications. This part-time remote role (20–30 hours per week) suits an engineer comfortable managing their own workload while contributing to clean, scalable backend systems and CI/CD pipelines.

Salary

$110,000 - $125,000 per year

Key Responsibilities

Designing, developing, and maintaining server-side systems and APIs
Ensuring application performance, scalability, and security
Managing CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments
Overseeing database design and integration with front-end systems
Contributing to architecture decisions, code reviews, and process improvements
Providing mentorship to other developers

Requirements

Strong experience with Laravel 10+ (5+ years)
Proficiency with PostgreSQL and database design
Knowledge of Redis, TDD, and PHPUnit
Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, webhooks, and RESTful architecture
Hands-on DevOps experience (Docker, CI/CD pipelines, cloud deployment)

Bonus Skills / Nice to Have

Frontend experience with Vue 3 or React
Knowledge of AWS Lambda or Serverless frameworks
Strong communication and documentation skills
