Senior Software Engineer (Frontend)

National Digital is an Australian digital agency specialising in headless CMS integrations and modern web application development. We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Frontend) with strong experience in Next.js, React, and TypeScript. The ideal candidate enjoys technical ownership, clean architecture, and creating fast, accessible interfaces that integrate seamlessly with scalable backends.

Salary

$115,000 - $130,000 per year

Key Responsibilities

Designing, developing, and maintaining front-end applications using Next.js and React
Ensuring accessibility, performance, and responsiveness across devices
Collaborating with backend and design teams to deliver cohesive experiences
Occasionally contributing to backend logic (Node.js/Lambda/Serverless)
Participating in code reviews, architecture discussions, and process improvements

Requirements

Expert-level experience with Next.js and React
Strong proficiency with TypeScript and API integration
Experience leading best-practice conversations and mentoring others
Familiarity with headless CMS platforms (Contentful, Storyblok, etc.)
Understanding of GraphQL and modern API design
Ability to work independently within a remote-first environment

Bonus Skills / Nice to Have

Experience integrating Next.js applications with Laravel backends
Knowledge of CSS/SCSS best practices
Interest in performance optimisation and accessibility standards
